How do you deal with damaging Rumours that is affecting out family and livelihood.

My husband has been divorced for 3yrs. Seperated 5. We got married this year. He has custody of their son who is 6. She just dropped him off one day last year and just never picked him up. In October, she showed up out of the blue, demanding he Give back their son. He said no. So now he is in family court.

So now the rumours come into it. We had DOCs investigating us. We apparently beat his son, and sexualy abuse him. She has a photo of a hand print on a boys back side, thats very clearly not his son, as it's lacking a birth mark. Docs have said its a closed case but what she's telling people has just about killed my husbands business as a handy man. He's very well known and in the past month he's lost about 40% of his clients. We get yelled at in town. His son has been uninvited to birthday parties and no one showed up for his. No one is accepting play dates. If I take him the park no parents will talk to me and they are all whispers. School pick ups turn heads, even the teachers seem to think it's all true.

We don't know what to Do. So have no actual proof it's his ex wife, so we can't do anything legally about it.
