My daughter goes to an alternative school with no uniform. She has PLENTY of clothes. Clothes she has picked out and bought herself! Yet she will seriously wear the exact same outfit for days in a row and she swears so many other kids do the same...when I was a teenager I definitely didn't wear the same outfit several days in a row because I was worried I would have gotten bullied for being unhygienic if I did. Is this a normal thing for teenagers now and I'm just out of touch?
Does alone else have a teenager who wears the exact same outfits for days in a row?

Mine don't but I only have a few clothes that I wear even though I have heaps. I might buy the wrong thing or just feel uncomfortable in them. She might also be worried about a specific style or brand. Offer to help go through her clothes and get rid of everything she doesn't like or wear. In the future to buy more clothes buy them in person and get her to try them on and ask what she's going to wear it with or when is she going to wear it so she's not buying stuff she likes just in the moment she's putting thought into it.
I don't have teenagers but I have noticed how sloppy teens dress compared to when I was a teen so it would not surprise me if lots of teens did this.
My son did until I put my foot down recently. It is unhygienic! I was like 'sorry kid but you're not going out or slobbing around the house in 3 day old clothes you've worn in public'. If he wants to repeat an outfit, it gets washed!
My daughter on the other hand goes through 3 outfits a day 😆
I was wondering if it was a hill worth dying on or if I just leave it but you are right, it's unhygienic and I'm also worried the school would report me for neglect. I think I will put my foot down for this one too.
I highly doubt the school would report you, wearing the same outfit every day isn't really an issue. It's not any different to wearing the same school uniform 5 days a week so that alone is in no way an indication of neglect.
The laundering I think is worth putting your foot down with though, clothes that have had a full day's use need to be washed.
This school doesn't have a uniform so it's not the same. As a teacher aide I would find it weird for a student to wear the same outfit over and over in a school with no uniform and I'd ask if everything was OK at home. Probably not after 2 days but any more than that and I would.
I wish my daughter would stop changing outfits three times a day and creating washing.
It sounds like she has created her own uniform she feels comfortable in. I would actually double up on the same clothes so they are more regularly washed and call it her unofficial uniform and let her tell her friends ;)
