I had a Mirena inserted 3 weeks ago after a great deal of research to better manage my heavy periods. Now I know it does take a few months to settle but how long was it before you had sex with your partner? I’m bleeding constantly and even though it’s fairly light, it’s enough to require a pad or tampon all day, every day. I’ve never wanted to go down the path of sex during my period so my anxiety at having to wait 4-6 months is very high, not to mention how frustrated my partner feels. My doctor says this is all completely normal but surely women are not waiting that long? How do others manage this? I just want the bleeding to stop so I can enjoy sex with my partner!

I don't have a mirena but just about the topic of sex while bleeding, buy yourself some sea sponges or beppy sponges. Wet them, and insert them for sex . You can buy them from Chemists, Adult shops, or online. I've been doing this for 20 years . The sponges cannot be felt by him or you.
Not op but how do they work? Do they have a string attached to pull them out or do you have to go digging for them?
Depending on the type, they come with a little hook . Some don't have a hook, but u can still get them out easily when you squat and insert your Middle finger . At first it takes a bit of getting used to, but after all these years, I have no issues removing them . Once you skilfully can do it, you'll never look back.
If you get the ones with a pull hook that you can latch your middle finger into, it's simply the same technique. Squat and reach in . It's not as hard as it sounds. The hook is made out of sponge, the same as the entire device is.
Like Tampons tho, if you try remove them dry, they hurt. Let them become nice and saturated before removal. Oh and the sponges hold 2 to 3x more liquid than a tampon does so break thru bleeding-out is very rare.
I had the mirena and did not experience this at all.
I had a whole lot of other horrid experiences and there's a reason there was a big lawsuit overseas. There is a mirena support group on Facebook that may provide more support.
So many women feel let down by their doctors ignoring their symptoms. You are not alone.
I had one in. Lost my sex drive and bled for months. I got it taken out.
