My daughter has been sleeping on her stomach since birth. I couldn't get her to sleep very long on her back, so I tried on her stomach and she slept a lot better.
My daughter, now 2, slept on her dummy from 2 days old. She slept on her back the two nights in hospital, but then on her tummy at home. She always had a strong neck. I spent the first few nights worried, but then after about night 5 when we put her down, she lifted her head to get comfortable, we felt much better about our choice. I never told my MHN so I didn't get a lecture on SIDS. we still made sure her blankets were tight, nothing in her cot, no bumpers, no toys. We didn't wrap her so that she also had her arms free to move herself at any stage. She was always and still is a fabulous sleeper and I think it's because we didn't fight to make her sleep on her back.
I slept all 3 of my babies now aged 21 13 and 11 on their tummy's with no drama ... but that was a long time ago not sure what the baby sleeping protocol is these days ...I also had bumpers in their cots and crib .... I probably did everything they tell you not to these days ......
I was to scared to do it before 2 months. But I started day time sleeping on his tummy at 2 months because it helped his wind and settled him then when I was more comfortable started him at nights. He's 6 months now and falls asleep on his back and front :)
My two (now 3 and 4.5) slept on their backs from birth. They only started sleeping on their stomachs, either on someone before they could hold their heads, or if I was laying next to them on the floor. They only started stomach sleeping once they were able to hold their own heads and roll with ease from front to back.
My bub started at 4 weeks. His neck was strong enough that he could move it from side to side. He just wouldn't settle on his back. Now he's 4 months old and sleeping from 7pm-5am!

Since birth as well. As long as they can turn their heads by themselves. This is actually how she slept in special care as a new born.
