Can someone please help calm my anxiety. I had some blood tests recently and have been sent a follow up message, to book a non urgent appointment, to discuss them. Would this mean it’s nothing too serious? I struggle with medical anxiety and I am making myself sick over the upcoming appointment. I almost faint at the thought of going in and I can not stop shaking.

It's OK! Yes, in my experience it's not urgent. I remember once getting told by the receptionist that I had to make an appointment to discuss the results and I had all these thoughts going through my head for days. I get there and the Dr seemed annoyed that the receptionist told me to make an appointment because all I had was low iron, he just wanted to her to tell me over the phone to get some iron tablets and go back in a few months. Another time when I was pregnant and had to have a scan and was told by my Dr afterwards to go straight to the hospital. Relax, if it was urgent they would want you there straight away. You may have a deficiency like I did or maybe its your thyroid.
Thank you for this. Your reply has helped me a lot. Anxiety is so crippling at times.
I’ve had that msg a few times. Each time was just low in iron or just to say they found nothing in my blood work.
My doctor's receptionist called me one day after I'd had a multitude of tests for some vague symptoms, she told me in the most sombre tone that I needed to book an appointment to discuss the results.
I was basically planning my funeral at this point.
My doctor gave me the all clear but mentioned that one of my abdominal xrays showed a large mass of poo in my intestines and recommended I get some laxatives.
A week of stress and a $85 fee to tell me I was constipated 😂
I know it's hard but try not to panic Xx
I've ALWAYS had to go for an appt to get test results?
In fact a nurse rang me the last time I had bloods to tell me everything was clear, and I was shocked because it had never happened before! I didn't even know they were allowes to do that.
In my experience "non urgent results" = "we could've just sent you a text saying all is fine but want you to fork out the 70 bucks for me to say it in person.
I ignore those messages unless it requests urgent action.
hmmm that hasn't always been the case for me...
It doesn't mean nothing they wouldn't even call you in. Non urgent means its not an emergency, but they still want to discuss the results with you.
Could mean nothing came up at all, that’s their general response when it’s NOT urgent (if it is they will call you).
I always try to think that anxiety about health is the worst thing for your actual health! Manifest good things and keep asking the universe for good things and telling yourself you are doing great
I was low B12 and overloading on Iron. Was able to fix both. If there was anything to worry about they would have said urgent. I would consider requesting a referral for some help with your anxiety 💗
