My kids used to play mathematics, they loved it. Not sure if it still exists
Whatever you use, make sure you teach them the concepts and help with what they don't understand and use the app to consolidate the learning.
Find out what they are learning at school and be involved, nothing beats 1 on 1 instruction with your child.
No maths program will teach them all the concepts.
Games are great for learning times tables etc. simple additional/subtraction.
You can't expect to put them in front of an app and they magically catch up.
It's the same concept as home readers.
Not all kids learn well face to face, some can figure it out easier if they're doing it themselves. Apps can help reluctant learners that would otherwise shut down or stress too much. If he's already behind its worth a shot.
Yeah true, better than nothing I guess.
Firstly, speak with their teachers to find out exactly where they are falling behind. There may be some really easy things you can do, like rote learning of times tables etc. Mathletics is really good. You can choose the area to work on, has speed trials against players from around the world (I'm always surprised how quickly kids get good at the basics with this). It is a paid subscription though.
