Teenage Acne have tried everything

Teenage acne…

So my 14.5yesr old daughter has the most horrendous acne. I did too as a teenager and it cause me severe depression.
She has it every day all over her face and back, but gets really really angry right before her period.

We have tried ever type of face washes, medications, antibiotics, antibiotic creams etc. Nothing clears it up.

I don’t want to go down the roaccutaine (spelling?) road as I had serious side effects.

Am curious about the pill though. I remember when I went on it it was amazing for my skin.

Does anyone have there teenager on the pill? If so which one and does it work for their acne?

I have heard of girls a lot younger been recommended the pill, but just looking for others experiences.

Get a referral to a dermatologist. My 15 year old son has severe acne on his face, chest and back. He’s currently on doxycycline that his GP put him on, after his orthopaedic surgeon wanted his back cleared before they’ll do his scoliosis surgery. After starting the antibiotics he saw his general paediatrician who also wants him reviewed by a dermatologist to see if there’s anything further that should be done. The doxycycline is definitely helping, but occasionally he will still get large and painful acne. I can’t advise specifically on the pill for your daughter, but I know it did absolutely nothing for my acne when I was on and off it for 16+ years. My skin has only improved in the last couple of years since I started eating low carb (all my peri menopause symptoms improved with the change in diet) and starting to use natural skincare products. I cleanse with a wet bamboo face cloth and moisturise with an Ecology Skincare cream (both from https://ecologyskincare.com/).

What were your side effects on roaccutane?
I think that is the best and fastest way to clear it up. But absolutely see a dermatologist and discuss your concerns and options.
There is an online dermatologist called derma direct and they were fantastic for my kids, as we don't live near a city and the regional dermatologist had a 6mth wait.

My son had serious acne and we had to see a dermatologist.

He was put on low dose roucctaine. I know that's not what you want but talk about your options.

Goodluck
