I am worried about my 2 year old not talking yet. He says a range of single words like bye, dog, mum, dad but no long words and no sentences not even two words together. I brought it up at a check up but they didn't seem worried. I would like to get a second opinion, where would I start? He is 2 years and 5 months.

Push the issue, really push. My sister inlaw was ignored and her son is high functioning asd. Drs tried to ignore her a second time but she pushed until she was heard. Her younger son is also asd.
My youngest son, had a very loter vocabulary, he's unofficial asd, still in assessment.
What I learned is nobody else will care but the parents. The doctors always say " are you concerned" that's a hard question because everyone is always saying kids learn at their own pace. Nobody else will push for your child to get help unless you ask for help. I do suggest you get him some help.
He is 2, it’s normal don’t stress. He can say alot more than kids that actual have issues. My friends son is 2 and can’t say any of them words. Wait until he is 4, give the poor baby time he is just a baby don’t stress.
If you are concerned ask for a referral for a speech therapist to have him Assist. My daughter was the same she was diagnosed with Speech despacia at 4. she has been in speech therapy since she was 2 she is now 17.
