Does anyone have experience with family tree history through having a genealogy expert? I've subscribed to ancestry and purchased a DNA kit but thinking more along the lines of paying a professional as apparently my family tree is 'pretty shady' (pun intended!) and relatives have passed on that I'd like to have spoken to. South Australia preferably!

If you have subscribed to Ancestry and done your DNA then that will be a great start for you. It will take a little bit to get your head around the site itself but once you do you can find out quite a bit. Once you have done your dna Ancestry will sort your matches out Paternal and Maternal lines which also makes things easier. You just have to hope there are people on there related to you that have also done their DNA. I have helped 3 adopted relatives find their birth parents with help from Ancestry results.
