Period every 2 weeks

Period every 2 weeks

Im in my early 40's and for the past couple of months I get my period every fortnight.
Ive always had heavy periods but since having my daughter 6 years ago they have been getting worse with each passing year. To the point that on day 2 I struggle to stand for more than 10 minutes because my vagina feels like its on fire. Its horrible.

Im single and Im on the minipill (history of blood clots). I take the minipill at the same time like clockwork. It's been prescribed to minimise my period pain and it has helped significantly (no more pain while standing etc) but I can see how my period is still getting progressively worse.
Im getting facial hair on my chin, breast (4 dark hairs, im blonde) and upper lip. I pluck all the darker ones or use Nair.
I always got my period once a month until January this year then I started getting it every fortnight.

I am getting acne on my chin, breasts, back.

I was assuming all of this is just me getting older but the irregular periods are making me wonder if my hormones are out of whack.

Im also getting severe tender nipples up to a week before my period. Like taking my bra off is painful.

I have a drs appointment. I wanted to see if anyone else has had similar symptoms.

I'm curious if this is perimenopause or not?

Im worried and I know I'll get my answer when I see my dr, but I just can't stop thinking about it that is why I'm posting here.

Request to hormone blood tests. Sounds like you are entering menopause.

This sounds like it could be perimenopause but there is no test for it, and menopause is where you don’t have a period for 12 months straight or something.
It’s still worth discussing with your GP though. I had fibroids removed and that stopped my period being ridiculously often, and I moved back to a 28 day cycle

You can get your hormones tested which would indicate peri menopause. I agree t with the fibroids. Best to rule things out.

Your symptoms sound like peri-menopause. Best treatment is to treat symptoms. Your doctor my order bloods to check for hormone abnormalities but contrary to popular opinion there is no definitive test for peri as your hormonal levels change from day to day and even hour to hour so they are notoriously unreliable. Get a referral to a gynecologist to get a thorough check up to rule out any nasties.

Get your pituitary gland checked, love. This doesn't sound like peri menopause . I've been in full meno for four yrs and your description is very unusual.
