Is anyone on here experienced in food chemicals and gut health. I am on a few pages and have spent the past 4 years having tests of all sorts. All tests have come back clear. My body is reacting to something and I am desperate for answers. I am in wide spread pain daily and it’s something to do with food.
I have tried elimination, which is hard and low fod map. I’m worn out.
What has prompted me to write in tonight to seek info, is that I just ate approx 3 - 4 corn chips, gluten free
With in minutes, my body was in pain. The only thing I notice on the packet was antioxidant 307B
I would love someone to shed some light on this for me. If anyone knows about additives or if this can even set this off, I am desperate for answers.
I have been to specialists, allergy tests. invasive tests, I’ve had it all.. It’s cost me thousands, trying to get answers and still nothing.
This has me curious about the antioxidant 307B could my body possibly be reacting to that. I only had a few corn chips and my body reacted and the pain is still with me all over. This is the only number in the ingredients.
If anyone could please suggest anything and provide me with any info on what i describe and is it possible to react to this 307B ?
Please don’t tell me to get Drs advice. I already have. TIA

Have a look on FB under a group called “additive free lifestyle” Jo and Tracy are 2 sisters who have spent more than 10 years researching additives. The Facebook group can help you and guide you to the resources you need :)
Thank you so much for this info. This is such a great help.
A bit of extra info that may help, these were the Byron Bay plain corn chips, if you could pin point something else that may be causing this reaction. I presume it’s the 307B but could be wrong.
The only info I can find on the stated chips is that they contain corn and sunflower oil. Googling antioxidant 307b suggests it's derived from sunflower oil and other vegetable oils high in vitamin E.
My question would be: do you react the same way to corn? What about sunflower seeds or other vegetable oils?
Corn is apparently a low-histamine food and not even the FedUp website indicates 307b is an additive to be concerned about. That's not to say you are not reacting to either ingredient, just that the incidences are unusual.
The idea would be to see if you can replicate this reaction with this specific food and with other foods containing this ingredient.
The other thing would be to look into what else was in your environment. Were you drinking something while eating? What else had you eaten? Is it even possible for something to cause a pain response within minutes of eating (I know it's possible for a histamine response to be more or less instant), or could you have been reacting to something previously eaten? And I'm assuming rheumatoid arthritis and other auto-immune conditions have been ruled out?
I wish you a lot of luck. I've been undergoing tests for a completely different condition for 9 years. It's devastating to keep going when you're coming up with nothing.
Thank you. It’s so mentally exhausting isn’t it. Start to feel like I am going cl crazy each time I mention it anymore. yes I have been to a Rhumatologist. All tests came back clear. I feel like they keep sending me in circles back to each other because no one can actually help with no diagnosis from any tests. I pretty much have to pin point what my body may be reacting to. I really noticed it with these corn chips quite quickly after I ate them. I will now trial some of the ingredients separately and see if I react.thanks so much for your lovely reply.
Also i hear histamine mentioned quite a bit by others but I don’t actually understand what it all means. Is there histamine foods? And would they be good or bad for you.I get so confused with all the different info I get.
I guess I take it histamine foods are bad which I will Google what foods they are. Hence the reason like allergies needing antihistamines.? Of all the specialists and allergy tests I’ve done, no one has actually told me about histamines, only hear or read from others.
Have a look at amine and salicylate allergy/intolerance. They are in almost all foods at varying levels.
Ok thank you. Glad I posted I hadn’t heard of these things before. I feel so lost. The professionals don’t mention any of this.
Talk to your GP for referrals. The issue might be physical and certain foods trigger the pain because of texture etc. GAstrointestinal examinations might help
She has!
Thank you yes I have, from ultrasounds, scans, endoscopy, colonoscopy. Unfortunately they all show nothing which doesn’t help with what I can feel when my body is reacting to something. Trying to pin point it is extremely difficult.
All food additives have a negative impact of gut microbiota and tight junctions in the digestive system.
Ditch packaged and processed foods
Thank you
Could you be allergic to Corn/Maize?
My mother had a corn/maize allergy. It’s worth looking into
It’s so weird because we always listen to Drs and I have had the allergy testing done but no one has ever mentioned this so thank you. I will give these things a trial and see what happens.
Have you done the RPAH Elimination diet? I had all things come up normal but was having anaphylactic episodes to so many things. I eat low amine, low fodmap and low grain. I went low histamine and fodmap and have not been able to tolerate those type of foods since. There’s a SINGH low histamine booklet to test out what you might have issues with.
