Social work as a supervier for contact

This is targetted at australians in the industry....

I'm thinking about getting into social work, specifically supervised contact. Iv been thinking about it for a while, being my own kids had to have supervised contact with a parent, and due to lazy supervision in 2 seperate centres, things happened that shouldn't have. I want to be that social worker, who makes sure the children have that quality time with their family in a safe environment. I trust myself not to be bias based on my own experience. I just feel there isn't enough quality supervision out there.

The issue is, covid vaccinations? I have chosen not to be vaccinated, due to how many people close to me suffered some form of injury, one even dying. Will I have any chance entering this profession I'm vaccinated?

TIA

It would depend on the agency that hires but I think long term it will be completely dropped so it will be a non issue. The only reason some employers have kept it is incase covid restrictions back flip in the future and they don't want to lose staff over it like many did before.

It's still difficult in some industries but it's not spoken about. I know of mining industry, private therapy practices etc. who are still mandating it for all new employees. Your best course of action would be to actually contact a potential employer and ask if they require it. The NDIS also mandated it for anyone coming into contact with their clients so that may be another consideration. Some tertiary institutions even mandated it. Check everywhere so you do not have to deal with those barriers and come across them unexpectedly. I do know people who worked in a similar area and they all lost their jobs. Better to be sure than disappointed down the track 💕
