Best family friendly places to live NSW.

My husband and I live in our hometown we were born and raised in. He moved away for a few years before we met but I've been here my whole life. We feel like its time to move away and give somewhere else a go. Somewhere that also includes opportunities for our kids as they move into higher education levels and different hobbies other than just sport with other like minded children and teens. I have one sporty child and two more creative kids. The creative kids have nothing available.

My husband is in senior management and I'm an early childhood educator.
We are looking at moving somewhere in NSW and need inspiration to where to aim.

Obviously its where there is jobs and rental availability before we buy.
But looking for other's persepectives of wonderful family orientated communities that people currently live in.

So throw your experiences at me, where is the best family friendly places to live in NSW?

Do you want to live in cities or regional areas? Newcastle (or surrounds) is a good middle ground, it's got beaches, and isn't too far from Sydney. It's a city without being too big. It's not a trendy or cool place to live but would offer the things you are after. Alternatively the surrounding areas are port stephens if you want a more beachy/bay life, or maitland, which is a town not a city if you wanted to still keep the small town feel but it's about half hour to Newcastle for schools etc

I love northern New South Wales. All the small towns, markets, beach towns. But I found it’s hard for families, small town problems of jobs houses childcare needing to travel etc. so I’d look at living further up at tweed or close to Gold Coast so Far north nsw is easily accessible for weekend trips but kids have everything the Gold Coast has to offer, close to international airport, and brissy isn’t far either for easy access to larger events.

Sawtell is a beautiful little coastal village on the Mid North Coast. It gives you that lovely coastal lifestyle while having Coffs Harbour close on hand for shopping etc. Most of the schools in the area are decent. Bellingen is a little further south down the hwy but inland & very beautiful, has become quite trendy in recent years but could give you the acherage option or that small town country lifestyle while still being accessible to everything. Visiting QLD is very easy when living on the MNC. Not sure about jobs though. Yamba, which is further north, is also lovely though i only holiday there.
