Please be kind. Im not scared of honest truths or harsh realities but genuinely am asking for help.
I have all the underlying symptoms for PCOS, Insulin Resistance and High Cortisol Levels and every other Hormonal Imbalance you see pop up on your FYP (TikTok).
Blood tests showed my cholesterol levels were high, sugar levels needed to be monitored as am borderline pre-diabetic and vitamin D is low. Also with a BMI of 47.
Dr’s are saying “you need to lose weight” no shit Sherlock. I’m 41 years old and since I hit the big 40 the struggle is real.
Been a yo-yo dieter since for ever, you name it I’ve tried it. WLS is at the forefront of my mind and if $$$ weren’t an option I would have done it already.
Yes I know not everyone is the same and not one diagnosis fits all. I also know I should seek proper medical advice which has been done (can’t see the nutritionist until end of Jan). What I’m after is for those who had all the same underlying symptoms of a Hormonal Imbalance but it wasn’t diagnosed as such. Who were just told to “stop eating too much, exercise and you’ll lose weight”?
Where are you?

Get on ozempic. It will help with your pre diabeties and control your glucose levels. Keeps them stable and in range & everything else will start to come better. It’s important to get that happening asap. There was a shortage of ozempic because it’s been so amazing but it’s slowly coming back into stock and I get it regularly without any issues. It will also help with any sugar cravings and eating. Join ozempic support group pages and see how it’s helped. Ask your dr about it.
I have used Ozempic with good results. Although as I wasn’t diagnosed with Diabetes and due to the shortage world wide they would no longer prescribe it to me for weight loss. When I go back and see my GP I’ll ask again about it.
I am using Juniper program and have managed to loose 17kgs in 4-5 months. More success than I have ever had. It is expensive however definitely been worth it for me
Restoring my gut microbiome and increased movement helped balance hormones, reduce inflammation and fluid retention which inturn lost weight.
How do you restore it? any info would be great
I had help from a naturopath, I was placed on the GEMM Protocol.
Same principle for all methods. No sugar, no additives, no dairy, no grains and no fruit.
Lots of leafy greens, omega-3s, fibre, pre- and probiotics, and lots of water.
Reduce stress.
Being restrictive it's best to see someone to help support you through it that can provide easy to make recipes, and help fill any nutritional gaps.
It's not easy to start with, but we'll worth it! I have never felt better- I have previously been diagnosed with 2 autoimmune conditions and have had no flare ups since week 3 of starting my program.
You can find information by Googling Dr Christine Houghton and Gemm protocol.
Thank you, I definitely need to look into something like this.
I’ve not seen a naturopath yet. But when looking for pre/probiotics to take, the guy at the health store said, the first thing I would need to do is give up sugar and dairy at a minimum.
No advice, just wanted to let you know I am in the exact same boat. Being told by everyone to 'lose weight ' but I've been trying and there is no result, my weight just goes up. I really feel for you, I know how hard and frustrating and soul crushing it can be. Please remember that your weight or dress size does not define you as a person.
Thank you
It’s hard so fricken hard. I eat relatively healthy but I don’t eat often or I eat at the wrong time. Coffee is my best friend and what’s sleep 🤦🏽♀️
Stress levels from work and family life was through the roof and did I mention I don’t sleep 😂
WLS is looking mighty fine but I know it comes with it’s own complications and the $$$ not keen on that part.
Do you know that when you don’t sleep enough, and when you have high stress, it physically changes the way your body works. It changes the way you process food and the hormones you create. Number one focus has to be to get enough sleep and lower stress and you’ll see change.
High Cortisol levels isn’t usually with PCOS. I would be chasing up further testing for cushings disease/ pituitary/ adrenal tumours. Don’t just settle with being palmed off!
Good advice
Mate, go keto. I was 161kilos, now 80, all because I eat no carbs and no sugars and I DO eat an all fat diet .
Cholesterol is normal, BP normal, sugars normal.
