Hi everyone,
I will start by saying I have extreme health anxiety. I am worried I have temporal lobe epilepsy and I am just looking for advice from others whether I should pursue it. I get very fleeting de ja vu feelings, like a second or 2 always when I am tired. It is then followed by feeling anxious but I am not too sure if that is because the feelings bring anxiety or this is a seizure.I guess I am wondering 2 things has anyone been diagnosed with TLE in their mid thirties no related injuries or genetic risk factors? Or anyone with health anxiety have you convinced yourself you have a condition and it hasn't ever eventuated?
I will pursue this with my doctor however there is quite a wait to get in, I am feeling so anxious right now and would love to hear from others.
Thanks in advance.

I convinced myself I was having heart attacks. I wasn’t.
Were there any strategies that helped you get passed the fear? Did you have physical symptoms?
I'm not the poster of this reply but I did this as well. It was all anxiety, you would start with a tight chest and then your anxiety would get worse, causing more symptoms in line with a heart attack like chest pain, dizziness, the more symptoms I had the worse my anxiety got. It really did feel like I was having a heart attack and as soon as I would get to hospital it would disappear. Happened 3 times, I had heaps of tests and my Dr put me on anti anxiety meds and I was fine. Anxiety is a powerful thing and it makes you believe the worst scenario. What also helps my anxiety is occupying my brain with a brain puzzle when I feel an attack starting.
Im the poster, therapy, that involved mindfulness, distraction, calming techniques, finding activities that didn’t allow me to ‘be in my head’, lifestyle changes.
Also exploring the underlying reason why I had medical anxiety, which for me was related to my family situation and a medical situation my son had gone through.
Do you have any other symptoms? Has anyone mentioned you going blank or doing odd things? These are the things I think of when I get that feeling and I feel weird from it. Most times it's a no so I stop thinking about it 😅 definitely talk to your doc about it though xx
Nope noone has ever said I go blank or act strange when it happens. It's just a fleeting oh I've had this thought or someone has told me that story before. I think I go in to panic mode because I have convinced myself I am having a seizure!! It's exhausting.
Do you get de ja vu regularly?
Sometimes, but mostly random. Some can be really quick and unnerving and other times it lasts for ages, like I'm in a dream or something, other times it's just normal and passes. I don't know why but, I'm still here and Im pretty sure I havnt had any seizures of any kind 😅
I have it and was diagnosed in my 20s. For me, it has been a long road and various complications. First step is to go to your GP and discuss things. I had other symptoms and tests confirmed what I actually suspected for some time.
My little seizures can be debilitating. Those "lapses", depending on severity and duration, cause me to take time off work as I'm usually that unwell afterwards. If your symptoms are similar to mine, then may be...but there are a whole lot of other things that it could be. Best not to google anything and go get yourself a check up with GP.
