RAT not detecting covid

Has anyone who has recently had covid had symptoms for a couple of days before a RAT showed positive. I started getting symptoms 1-2 days ago, but only had a positive RAT this morning after a positive pcr. So now I’m worried that the worst is still to come. I also have my sons grade 6 graduation in a few days and I know it’s no compulsory to isolate but I feel guilty if I go, but I also don’t want to miss it.

My husband had symptoms for about 3 days before he tested positive on a RAT.

If you're still symptomatic day of the graduation you should probably stay home, there's no longer a legal obligation to isolate but we do still need to be considerate of other people in our communities and that should apply to any viral infection, not just covid!

Thanks for your reply did his symptoms start getting better after testing positive. I’ve so far been okay but am also quite anxious as I’m not the healthiest person

I'm an allied health professional and your comment is both uneducated and cruel. The lasting pulmonary changes from covid are likely to impair cardiac output significantly over time. Although the acute illness might be mild in many cases, the common cold doesn't result in issues with gas exchange or cardiac myopathy. The virus might not be cause for panic, but the consequences shouldn't be undermined either.

I was completely better, returned to work and went hot on a test. Same as a cold, flu, gastro bug, if you don't feel well stay at home.
