Can anyone please explain to me what a HLDNA test does. I know it’s a gene test but what results would one expect to find in such a test. If one person in the family is having one, should all family members get it? If it’s shown the have they gene in the test can someone clarify if they have had this test done.? If it was there then does that mean, there is a likely chance of getting certain diseases. What does it even mean HL? DNA if requested by a Dr, they don’t tell me much so wanting some more info, from those who have had this blood tests.
TIA

I can tell you a bit about genetic testing.
In my sons case we were looking for genes related to his symptoms and medical conditions.
So if your family member is having genetic testing done by a doctor it would be in relation to a medical condition. Until the results come back, there is no way to know if you should be tested or not.
Not all genes are in families the same way and if your family member comes back with a specific genetic marker you can discuss with your doctor wether testing is worth it for you.
It’s possible your relative doesn’t have the answers you are looking for until after the test results are explained to them. Or if they do, they may not wish to worry you until the results say there is something you need to worry about (or not).
Thank you for this information
