Hello! Just after some people’s experiences please! I am booked in for a bladder prolapse surgery and repairing my pelvic floors. I have my pre surgery appointment coming up but just hoping for some feedback from anyone who has been through something similar.
I understand there is the 6 week recovery period where you are heavily restricted in what you can do. But after that, are you able to build back up to pre surgery exercise? I’m really fitness focused and worried that this surgery will interfere with that and my progression. I will, of course, be asking in my next appointment but would greatly appreciate some stories!

I wouldn’t be jumping back in at 6 weeks but that’s just me, personally I found anything that caused to much movement - hurt a lot
And I’m quite fit too
I had prolapse repair (bladder & bowel), pelvic floor repair & hysterectomy done in July. You won’t want to be doing anything at 6 weeks still. Ask lots of questions from your doctors. I’m still limited in what I can or cannot do. No jumping, running, skipping etc and no lifting of anything heavier than 5-7kg… pretty much ever as it’s only scar tissue holding everything together. I was told by this by the physio AFTER surgery. My doctors didn’t give me the info. I would have still done it but I wish I had been more mentally prepared. I still get pain now if I sneeze or cough etc and sex is still a bit uncomfortable. At my last appt with the gynae, they said it’s normal to not be 100% for up to 12 months.
