Please help. I have a 17yo son who is diagnosed adhd, autism (high functioning) and defiance.
He takes medication but has been hiding it or not taking it. He is all of a sudden refusing to go to school.
That’s not the main issue. The biggest issue now is he is violent. If he isn’t getting his way he punches me or his siblings, throws and breaks things in the house.
I’m completely lost, he has always been hard to manage but I’m now at the stage I don’t know what to do.
Is there some kind of care he can go to for respite, I have even thought about foster care but have no idea how to organise. He is refusing when i mention it but I honestly can’t deal with this anymore. It is affecting our whole family dynamics, his siblings are scared.
Please help. One desperate mum.

I may sound harsh, but consequences for actions. If he punches you, the police deal with it. If he’s abusive, same. If he’s abusive but won’t take his meds, then he needs to find somewhere else to live. He’s old enough. He’s making a choice. You set your boundaries and rules.
Is he seeing a psychologist/psychiatrist?
What about headspace, have you tried them?
