Carpopedal spasms

I had a frightening episode out of the blue the other night called a carpopedal spasm. I thought I was having a stroke as my limbs were sweating , i had a fast heart rate ( probably from breathing so fast ) , low blood pressure, mild fever , hazy vision - like when your drunk, nausea and complete limb weakness and i collapsed so my husband called an ambulance where I was whisked to hospital
. I was admitted overnight only to be told it's not a stroke. My symptoms disapeared within an hour. This carpopedal spasm was apparently brought on by hyperventilation and dehydration which is common in elite athletes and the elderly . I am neither of those. It causes a sudden massive drop in calcium, causing limb rigidity, stiffness, pins and needles and cramps , all in the hands and wrists and feet. . As far as I was aware, I wasn't even thirsty !

I've never heard of this condition before then. Has anyone ever had this before? Can it kill you? Is it a once off, or can it return? I never asked any questions when I was taken to hospital. I've had elevated anxiety since then . It really scared me as I collapsed to the ground unable to do anything but shake with body tremors which occured like seizures but I was fully conscious. Who's had this before?

Follow up with a health professional. Could be a nutrient deficiency or something more serious.
