I'm looking at a completely different career change.
I am thinking about truck driving and would love to hear from lady truck drivers about how this lifestyle works for them.
What are the costs to get set up? I have a teen who is approaching 18 and will finish his education at the end of next year with views of an apprenticeship or the army. He's in touch with recruiters and has been offered an apprenticeship.
I have been a single mom much of his life and we've always struggled financially. He feels like he should buy me a house but I've drawn a line saying I'm his mom and it's my job to set him up for success and get him ready for the next few challenges in his life. Which means that i need to upskill and that might mean i FIFO.
I've always put him before me, but that's left me financially destitute and my retirement will never happen. My goal is buying a house and getting a career that is much more sustainable.
Any advice? I'm 42.

my husband and I own a truck and my family also run a transport company of which I manage alongside my father. I don’t drive but I know a fair bit about the industry. It would also depend what kind of truck driver you are wanting to be? What licence do you currently hold?
