Hi lovely :) With my first pregnancy I got a risk of 1:300 for both, trisomy 18 and 21. I was 34 years old at the time and the dr said that I was showing the risk of a 45 year old woman. They offered a CVS procedure where they extract some placenta tissue through your abdomen (painless procedure) and give you a definitive diagnosis. I ended up having a beautiful healthy baby girl who's now 6 years old and she's a bright kid. The nuchal translucency scan is only a risk test, so please try to relax ( I know how difficult it is, trust me) and wait to see the specialist. Most high risk situations are nothing more than a big awful scare. Good luck with everything xxxx

With my second child I had a high risk of her having Down's syndrome after my 12 week testing. I had a CVS procedure done by a specialist and our daughter didn't have Down's syndrome. It's a really stressful time after you get your 12 week test results and then waiting for the specialist appointment and especially waiting on test results if you choose to have further testing like CVS done. I think I read absolutely everything I could find on google leading up to and after the specialists appointment.

Hi, yes I have 1 healthy son who is now 18 months old but at the start of the year our 2nd pregnancy 12 week tests came back 1 in 20. I saw a specialist who did another scan and I had a CVS which confirmed our baby had trisomy 18. It was and still is the most devastating thing that has ever happened to us. I had a termination at 14 weeks. I still cry every day about it but I know that I couldn't have bought a baby in to the world in pain. I am sorry you are going through any of this. I hope your results are all ok. I am now pregnant again and have recently had my 12 week tests and they have all came back ok. I wish you all the best.
