Menopausal symptoms after Hysterectomy

Hey brains trust, I am 27 and had a historectomy on the 5th of December 2021 for medical reasons. My ovaries were left behind but everything else is gone. I am constantly experiencing night sweats, mood swings, depression, insomnia which leads to constant feelings of tiredness and probably adds to mood swings and depression. I definitely expected a certain amount of these hormonal changes, I just want to know if anyone else experienced similar after the same surgery- will the symptoms settle down, or should I chat with gyno about what's happening? With the cost of a gyno being so expensive I just wanted to check in with experience first :) thanks all!

Your GP should be able to help you with these symptoms. It will cost you far less and they have access to the same hormonal therapies.

Your ovaries can go into "shock" for about 6 months after hystetectomy. Go to your GP and you should be able to get some hormone therapy to help you through. It's also good to educate yourself so you can be on top of how you're feeling and options available. The Australasian Menopause Society website has information about all things menopause.
