Hi, I'm a first time Mum of a 10 month old and I find myself getting so anxious about my little one's safety.
Every horrible news story about kidnapping and especially abuse I now find so much more terrifying than I did before I became a parent. I guess that makes sense as it's so much more real to me now. But I'm really starting to question whether or not I would be able to have more children if this anxiety is only going to be magnified.
I'm just terrified of something bad happening to my child, it's becoming all consuming.
How do I calm the hell down? Do other parents just learn to live with it or does it sound like something is wrong with me?

A little bit of anxiety is completely normal, especially for first time parents. If you are finding it hard to cope and it is interfering with normal functions eg. Lying awake at night worrying, it is time to see your doctor for an assessment to see if you have an anxiety disorder. Good luck xx
I agree, a little bit of worry is normal but if it's over taking your thoughts then it's time to see your GP.
I was like this up until around the time my son turned 3. I would be up most the night panicking over silly things
Like what if he gets bullied at school when he starts.. Or I wouldn't let him play at the park with other kids incase they we're mean to him or he got injured! I was up twice a night checking the doors
Making sure there locked incase someone came to kidnap him! I was diagnosed with anxiety.
Yes all parents can get worried but there is a line and if you believe what your feeling isn't normal go
See a doctor. Good luck :)
