Break up

Break up

So me and my partner just broke things off after 11 years together and 1 daughter together. It was my idea as I just don't love him anymore. We are on good terms, but I'm still heart broken. I haven't been by myself since I was 16. I'm scared, I'm lonely, I'm heart broken. He is also struggling. He wants to live with me for awhile till it really settles. But I dont know if that's the best idea. I guess I just need to hear other people stories and what was the next step.

I honestly think "separated but living in the same house" is the worst thing in the world. If it's over, you need to make a clean break. I know a lot of people who have done this for financial / children reasons, and it's ended badly every time. You can't properly get over someone or move on with your life while you're still interacting with that person for hours every day.

I agree, you're either together or not. Try not to confuse matters by living in each others pockets.

It's not. It's heartbreaking for everyone, and the moving on and healing will only start once you go through the split. Best to get it done.

i split in June after 15yrs.

it sucks, it hurts, it was the absolute hardest things to ever do. we have 2 kids, they hate it too. it still hurts 6m on.
time heals, just try not to have him in the same house. it will be waaaaay too hard and awkward.

make time for yourself

My husband and I broke it off but continued to live together for financial/ childcare reasons when I worked. It does work, aslong as you sleep in seperate beds and BOTH accept the relationship is over and aren't trying to mend things. Try to be friends.
