Needing some help or any information for my brother. Long story short, his now ex wife has kicked him out of their rental home and he now resides with our mum. He has been in contact with the real estate to try and remove his name from the rental lease, as we all fear she will up and leave suddenly to go back to her homeland, and he will be stuck with a trashed house and the 18 cats/kittens she has since decided to keep indoors and refuses to clean up after 🤢 and of course, the nightmare that goes with the real estate, bond and being blacklisted if his name remains on the lease. But here is the problem, the real estate has told him he has to fill out a form to remove his name and both he and her must sign to confirm the changes and you guessed it, she won't sign it! Has anyone been in this situation?? What can he do to remove his name from the lease if she won't sign! (Located in Queensland if that helps!!!)

Take her to court ASAP.
Contact the tenancy tribunal in his state for advice.
You can't take her to court. He signed the lease. They won't let him off it because why would they, they've got him signed for it, real estates suck. Just let the lease run out and don't renew it. If someone else moves in you can tell the real estate and they will then want that person to have signed something and you can then get yourself off it. Otherwise you have to wait for it to end. Make sure you contact them to say you are not renewing.
Lease is periodic, so essentially doesn't have an end date...does this make a difference?
Yes!! He can just give the required notice to end it! The nice thing to do would be to let the ex know that is what he will do if he's not removed, and give the chance again to remove him.
Just give notice in writing to the real estate and not tell the other b&$$
That's his ex wife and chances are high in this current climate she'll end up homeless, this could even be the reason she couldn't remove him or might have to go home, not everything is nasty.
