Stopped breastfeeding but no period

Just wanting to know what your experiences are and if my experience is normal...
With my first baby I breastfed until 25 months and my period returned within a couple of weeks.
My second bub was down to just a couple of night feeds at around 18 months and we went cold turkey at 24 months. He is now 27 months but my period has not returned at all. I spoke with my GP who said ovulation should return if feeds are more than 3 hours apart but this has been the case for me for at least a year. I can rule out pregnancy as gp did a test recently. I'm 34 so I'd like to think I have a few more eggs still.
Should I just keep waiting? Are there tests I can do to just see what's going on in there? How long did you go without yours?
