Owing tax this year.
Has anyone owed Tax before?
I am a single mum, i work part time and was recieving parenting payment single until December last year. When the first wave of the virus hit i didn't recieve any work. I didn't even take the supplement into account as taxable income. I am currently recieving workcover payments so not my full income. I checked how much tax i had paid this year compared to how much I've earnt and i am stressed out because i will definitely owe money.
Am i the only one that forgot to get tax taken out when recieving the supplement? It was already so hard to live off what i was getting while not working.
If you've owed tax, will they offer a payment plan that is affordable? I'm already struggling financially.
Thanks in advance. Sorry about the long post.

Yes they’ll offer a payment plan. When you get your tax done and know the debt amount just ring the ato - I actually found them super helpful. They asked me how much I could afford and that was the payment plan I was put on
They were regularly reminding people this was a taxable income so it’s just an oversight :) you need to explain this and just go on a payment plan. As long as you are upfront and don’t avoid it then they will work with you for sure.
Also, just check you have estimated your incomes correctly for Centrelink also!
I'm sure there will be allot of people in the same situation. Yes you'll be able to pay it off.
