My husband and I are thinking of buying a block of land (we are in Victoria) with the intent of building our family home. My question is what type of inspection should we undertake before we purchase (similar to building and pest when you purchase a home)? And do we do the inspection during the cooling off period similar to buying an actual property? Are these inspection usually done pretty quickly ie within 3 days or do they normally take longer? Other practical tips before we buy would be appreciated. Thanks!

Get a good conveyancer, they will advise on all of this, conduct the searches and go through the contract.
Flood risk and fire build requirements, easements council should tell you that.
Soil test at your own expense is another one, can also make o big difference to footing.
