This is probably a weird question. I have been with my partner nearly 2 years now, we don't live together, but are planning on soon when the time is right. We have regular sleep overs etc.
My boyfriend is a bigger guy, I wouldn't really class him as over weight, but he's 6"4 and has a very stocky build.
My issue is that at night time when he sleeps he sweats excessively, he says he is a hot sleeper and will just sleep in his boxers with a light sheet over him. It doesn't matter if its summer or winter, he still sweats. My biggest issue is that this causes the bed to stink and also ruins the bed linen. He changes his sheets every couple of days, but even after one night it still stinks. When I sleep over, his side of the bed is wet from his sweat and it makes me uncomfortable. Its getting to the point where I can't sleep because of the smell which makes me reluctant to have a sleep over. I have addressed this issue with him and have expressed my concerns about moving in together because of this reason. He has high quality, waterproof matress and pillow protectors on his bed and covers himself in antiperspirant before bed but nothing seems to work. I can tell he is a bit embarrassed about the issue and I try to not make a big deal over it, but it really does stink, like burn your nose kind of stink.
Does anyone have any solutions as to how we can over come this issue? Surely there are other men who sweat a lot.

My partner is a hot sleeper too, just radiates heat! It's great in winter but not summer. He doesn't smell though so I guess I just kind of put up with it. We also sleep with the fan on and the aircon if its hot enough. If it's humidity that is the problem then a reverse cycle air conditioner will help. Might sound odd and it's not a long term solution but an air mattress pretty much stops him overheating! Otherwise go old school with the cool facewashers on lymph nodes but they don't last all night. Best option is a fan, really good sheets and a cool gel mattress! And switch to a cotton shirt and cotton boxers.
He sleeps with the fan on full blast, he doesnt have an air-conditioner though. His boxers are cotton. I have heard about the cooling matress toppers so we may give them a try.
I really suggest investing in aircon! My adult son is tall and stocky and same problem, same with his father and uncles. Aircon changes lives 😅
Forget the fan and get him to the Drs. Serious medical issues can cause this. He needs a thorough check up ASAP.
Air con in the bedroom. I'm a hot sleeper. Once he has one he'll wonder how he lived without it. Better, restful sleep.
Has he seen his GP about it?
It's entirely possible that there's an underlying medical issue.
Also, really pungent body odour/sweat smells can be caused by diet or food intolerances.
So maybe you could encourage him to see a doctor and kind of explore the dietary aspect?
A kind sized bed that separates into two may be a good option for when you do move in together as well.
He needs to go to the Dr ASAP and have a thorough check up as night sweats can be the cause of a serious underlying disease. Make sure he goes and follows this up ASAP.
My hubby is just a sweater in general but we would not be able to sleep without the Aircon on 23°C and the fan on full. We also live in NQ so the aircon is a needed. I would definitely invest in an aircon
No pong! For the smell. My son is the same sweats so much, it's crazy, doesn't stop the sweat but stops the smell!
