One stressed mum

Hi! I'm really struggling at the moment. My ex husband and I split up, then got back together and now have decided to split up again. He is refusing to move out of our rental and I'm stressing out as I'm a stay at home mum (I am half way through study) and don't think I will be able to get a rental with Centrelink being my only income. Does anyone know of any places that might be able to help? How did you single mummas get a place? I have already tried government housing but unless I'm a victim of DV or disabled they said they can't help.

If it was me and my ex I would say fine, thats a big job for you having the kids full time! Then start looking for a nice little one bedroom single girls party pad, he would have soon changed his mind about who was leaving 🤣. I realise not all men are like that though! It will be hard but I have been approved for houses as a single parent before, it's not where the money comes from its how regular it is and they also make sure the rent is less than a certain percentage of your income. It's not all bad being the one to move out as it's a fresh start and you don't have to worry about him still thinking it's hos home, you will be able to set boundaries from the start.

I’ve never had a problem renting as a single parent and neither has my sister.

Centrelink is a stable income. Many realestates and landlords would prefer someone on centrelink than someone who works casually or with a sporadic income.

As long as you're applying for properties within your budget, where your money comes from is irrelevant.
