We just lost a total of $1040. My partner was checking his bank slip, and discovered $680 in play station withdrawals.he got on th PS, and realised that our 10yo, has over th past 6 months, downloaded, upgraded and added extras to his favourite ps game fortnight. We feel sick, but at the same time, slightly to blame for having our card details in the ps. The details r there, as you can't do free downloads with out it, and every now n then, our 16yo gets a cheep game, with his pocket money. We have a strict rule that no one is to download ANYTHING, with out asking and us checking its free.
So my advice is, please keep an eye on your bank statements, and don't keep bank details on ur gaming account
Hes not in that much trouble as we r unsure if he realised what he loaded cost money. 2 weeks of no ps is all hes gotten.

If you get in contact with Sony/PlayStation they can reverse the transactions if you explain that your child purchased things without permission or by accident not realising things cost money. It happens ALLL the time lol!
As a side note, you can download free games without having your credit card details logged in. We do all the time because we don't keep out card details on our video game systems at all for this exact reason.
Whenever we purchase something from the store, we put the card details in, make our purchase, then remove the details immediately. An even safer option (which is what we usually do) is buying the prepaid PlayStation wallet top up vouchers or PlayStation plus (the online access) vouchers, that way no credit/debit card transactions need to be made at all.
Hopefully you can get your money back 🙂
We tried to gwt a refund, but because its beem constant over the past 6 months theu said no
Put a password on the PS too.
There was, he cracked it
Bugger! Tricky kids.
My son does not have any payment details on his PS4 and he downloads a crap load of stuff just fine.
When my son did this he had chores coming out of his ears. Cleaning up dog poop, weeding the garden, washing the car, vacuuming the house etc this went on for weeks. He did it for in game currency i was furious. Deleted any payment details and made sure he would never do it again at the same time.
My 13 year old gets picked up by his pa on fridays and over months has been using his card to buy gaming cards, small amounts. He didnt spend that much but still, I feel your pain. Pa thought he was allowed to. 😂
This has happened to our family also with our 9 year old. He had always asked to purchase anything online. However somewhere along the last few months he stopped doing that! When I went through the transactions, I also noted the monies spent. When we asked him he explained he thought the game money he was buying was free. A honest childish mistake. But was a lesson learnt for all ha! All card details were deleted on every electronic device
This is why my son’s iPad is linked to mine and he has to send me a request before getting any apps. Quite often an app might be free but then a monthly subscription is needed to get full access. We don’t have internet access for the tv and other gaming systems, and if we did I wouldn’t be leaving payment info in the system.
I'm finding it hard to believe that a 10 year old had no idea what he was doing - you have to confirm what you are purchasing and as you have answered to another commenter there was a password he cracked himself. My son would have gotten more like 2 years of no PlayStation 😂
