Head lice

Head lice - Send help!!!!

Mum of 4, yes I've dealt with them in the past but treated and gone, Mr 9 since being back at school has had them 3 times, finally got rid of them and miss 15 just came out and said mum my heads itchy.... they were enormous in there!! And I literally checked her hair last week

I've washed all the kids bed linen and anything they sleep with, aired pillows in the sun, sprayed school hats etc, vacuum daily, what can I do?? Firstly to get on top of the problem in their hair.... and I know the old saying, they don't live off the head, but I figure if the kids lose hair on furniture and there's a crawler on it.... they spread?

I get the proper chemical treatment from chemist. Do their hair. Repeat 2 weekly. In between cover hair in oil, conditioner or hair spray and keep it up the whole time. You can also comb with the lice comb in between treatments. That's the only way we completely get rid of them here.

Forgot to add, I'm using KP24 which is what the chemist recommended x

I don't care what anyone says, lice do live off the head at least for a certain amount of time.
My MIL and her young kids were constantly riddled with lice and after they'd visit us I'd find live, crawling nits on our furniture and carpet right up to the next day *shudders*.

Part of the issue is other kids not being treated properly. It's absolutely pointless treating your own kids hair when they go back to school and get re-infected.
But of course, you can't not treat them...

I've always found that none of the actual lice treatments are that effective, lathering with conditioner and combing through with a fine tooth at least every second night works well. Supposedly tea tree oil helps prevent them but I'm not convinced lol.

If all else fails, pet flea control does the trick. Treat their hair, wash it dry it, add flea treatment just a drop and you’ll not have nits again.

If you want to attack me go ahead. But im not coming back to this post anyway.

A chemist told my mate. The only reason we don't recommend it is because we can’t sell it.

A hospital pharmacist actually recommended frontline to my sister in law, he told her the active ingredient in it was perfectly safe, and I have done it in the past when desperate, this particular child has heaps of skin allergies, so I need to be careful what I put on x

Back in the day they used kerosene lol what you’re saying doesn’t sound crazy, dogs can have sensitive skin and they tolerate it.

Kods get lice, its a part of childhood, so don't feel bad about it. I use th cheep $9 one from Coles, its what's worked best for us. I have 6 kids so I try to use the cheapest and most affective products as its costly for us. U need to wash everything from bedding, clothes, brushes. Then vacci all furniture, mattresses. Do weekly until the infections is gone, I suggest 3 weeks

Mouth wash.

Yep, mouth wash. I saw it on the internet and after my 4 kids kept getting them constantly and never getting all of them I thought what have I got to lose? I got a Coles brand bottle of mouth wash and poured it in a spray bottle, chucked in some eucalyptus oil and tea tree oil because why not lol and went to town. I absolutely kid you not it worked, and the eggs were so much easier to remove. I literally keep it in a spray bottle and now every few weeks we put it on friday night with a shower cap, leave it over night, wash and blow dry the next morning and we have gone months without any signs of them.
