I had a small scab on my scalp that never seemed to heal, so I mentioned it when I went for my annual skin cancer check. They did a biopsy that came back saying it was suggestive of BCC. The skin specialist said I needed to get a cream called Aldara and apply it for 5 weeks and see her again in 4 months. Since speaking with her I’ve done some googling and I’m confused as to why I wouldn’t be having it removed surgically. I’ve also read a few scary reviews of the Aldara cream and am worried to use it. Has anyone used Aldara to treat a BCC successfully before, or had a bad experience? Has anyone removed a BBC from their scalp using a different method?

Seek a second medical opinion.
My grandmother has had a few of those on her face and a couple on her hands. Her GP has on each occasion surgically removed them under local anaesthetic right there in the doctors office.
I'd definitely seek a second opinion.
I had a number of BCC removed and my GP has removed 2 with a scalpel (one being on my scalp) and 1 with the frozen stuff in a can at the GP office which was right above my eye lip and under my eye brow. Never been given a cream.
In regards to the BCC on the scalp, my hair has never grown back from where it was removed but the cancer is gone.
I’d get a second opinion :)
