Crossing into another state

Crossing into another state

I'm moving from NSW to VIC in 2 weeks. It's been a long time coming. I'm stressed my anxiety is high to the point I feel wired and shaking l the time.
Finalising specialist, looking at school I havnt even been able to physically inspect. Packing up the house finding removalist it's been alot. And on top of that finishing my studies. I'm almost at the end but I feel like I'm about to break
It's such a bad time to move but I need to go.
I have my child full time (no father in the picture) and she has ADHD/ASD. She's been having meltdowns, tantrums she's acting out she wants to go but all this change is alot
I'm so use to crossing the border freely but I've been told they have police guarding them looking in every ones cars. Almost like you are crossing into another country. Is this true? Has any one crossed any borders in the last few weeks?
I know I can get into Victoria I have asked the RMS. But will the cops be there waiting or can I just drive through
Help me clam some of this anxiety.
I can't wait to this move is over with

Yes, there are check points and waiting periods can be long. Make sure you have all the necessary forms/permits for crossing borders. Make sure you check covid rules on both sides of the borders, have masks (masks are mandatory in Victoria) and check the rules regarding children and masks. If your child won’t tolerate a mask make sure you get an exemption letter from your GP before crossing the border.
Make sure you know the rules in regards to shopping, exercise and leaving home of where ever you are moving to.

It’s a lot at the moment, but the rules are to keep everyone safe.

There will be a checkpoint and you will need to present to the police at it. You need evidence as to why you are there - a rental agreement with dates, proof of moving etc :)

Just make sure you’re aware of any potential quarantine rules once you cross over.

Good luck! It’s a stressful time but just know it’s temporary x

I am on the border of nsw and Vic. (Albury)

As far as I am aware, we dont have any check points to go into Victoria. But if you were to turn around and go back into NSW, you would need a permit and be checked.

Everyone in Wodonga, needs a permit to access Albury at the point. And are only allowed over for certain reasons.
Anyone from albury is able to come to Wodonga as they wish, and are able to get back with a permit as their address is Albury. (We have a bubble). Hope that helps.
