Hi all
I'm wondering what everyone gives their 19 month old for dinners? Atm I'm struggling to get my son to eat his dinner, I've just being giving him what we have which most of the time is vegies and meat (either chicken, pork or beef) and I cut it up to small pieces for him but he just doesn't eat it, he plays with the food and it either ends up on the floor or stashed in the side of his high chair when we aren't looking. He will eat shepards pie, spag bog and chips/nuggets (which I don't eat want to give to him all the time) so I'm after any advice or simple, easy recipes that you lovely ladies might have to help me!
Thanks in advance (:

My girl is the same atm... She used to eat vegies a lot... Now its like fat chance mum. 2.7 year old. Plus allergies so we are limited. She does eat vegie sachets from shops, so at least one a day is better then nothing. Sorry can't help much.
my 19 month old hasn't been the best eater... and got particularly bad over the last few months...
to be honest I didn't realise how much sweets i was giving her ( her snack food) the toddler snack bars, even the amount of yogurt she was eating, fruit swell, all sweet.
I got so strict and kinda starved her into eating what i put down, it was hards it took about 2 weeks, but now she's amazing... eats almost everything I put in front of her. she has 3 meals a day and a fuit smoothie or veggie juice to "snack" on throughout , I also started offering her more wanter when she got a bit irritated and 80 percent of the time she take the water and wasn't actually hungry. she will have a very small snack in the afternoon usually a fruit serving but its pretty much 3 meals a day. and she sleeps so much better aswel.
I also was having to give her a bottle for bed and a bottle overnight to soothe her, over the last 3 weeks iv gradually cut out almost all the milk in this 2 bottles and its almost all water...
veggie lasagnes are an awesome way to hide veggies... you can make the sauce your self too and cook it with garlic, broccoli and tomatoes .
I also made health nuggets and chips for her, and found just starting with ONE thing on her plate has helped! if i giver her more than two different things she still just plays with it. sometimes even with two things she will play so I keep each serve to just that. (i plan on slowly introducing a fully plate of variety but for now Im just so thrilled she is eating!!)
i hope that helped?? I find cos i cut all her sugar and upped her water she is so much happier and not needing to "snack every hour! she happily goes the 4 hours waiting for her next meal. ) oh and dinner is by far her smallest meal. lol.
My bubs is a garbage disposal unit! In saying that he is only 12 months but hopefully some of these will help you out! All of these ideas have at least 5 different vegies in it.
Apricot chicken & vegies with rice
Chicken, mushroom & vegies risotto
Savoury rice (a tomato base rice) with vegies and tuna
Chicken and vegie pie (homemade)
Scrambled eggs with ham and assorted vegies
Zucchini & assorted vegies frittata
Zucchini & assorted vegies fritters
Spaghetti Bol with vegies
Slow cooked lamb shank & vegies in garlic and herb sauce (this is her favourite!)
Beef casserole
Fried rice (can make your own)
She pretty much eats whatever we eat now but these are some of her favourites. Because of her age we slow cook a lot of the meat so it is easier for her to consume and she prefers the flavoursome food but also will happily eat streamed vegies o mashed pumpkin in a sandwich.
