Rhinoplasty

Hi IM's
I'm looking for personal experiences with rhinoplasty. Has anyone had a nose job and could share your experience with me?

I'm 40 years old now and broke my nose when I was 12. It was not treated at the time. As I've got older it's developed quite a large and (I think) unsightly bump on the bridge. I also have a deviated septum and narrow airways which makes breathing difficult. I'm nearly always slightly dizzy too. Unsure of thee cause but hubby suggested maybe its because I'm not getting enough oxygen?
I spoke to an ENT years ago who was happy to do the corrective surgery until I told him I'm prone to panic attacks. He then refused, since I'm likely to freak out waking up with my nose packed and not being able to breathe properly.

I was told I need to have the bumped chiseled/shaved off, broken down both sides and reset, septum straightened, and airways 'cleaned out' (whatever that means)

The reasons I've put this off for so long is
A) cost (I have top PHI)
B) pain (I don't take heavy pain killers, ever)
C) panicking on waking up

Is there anyone who has had this done could please share your experiences based on my concerns?

Many thanks...

I had mine done for almost the exact same reasons.

I came out of the anaesthetic swinging - quite aggressively which was super embarrassing (completely out of character) but apparently normal. It was my first time under. I calmed down instantly once I got my bearings.

I will say the difference in my breathing was remarkable! I also had a blocked sinus. I have literally never had a head cold as severely as I did pre op. I’d get facial pain and be so miserable. I hardly ever get a sinus infection and when I do it’s like a 2/10 compared to 10/10 pre op.

I will say though the uncontrollable nasal drip for the first few weeks is pretty hideous and also the swelling g took a good 6 weeks to settle.

Make sure you can take time off after so you don’t have to leave the house for at least 2 weeks.

Good luck!
