COVID testing process

Who here has been tested for COVID-19? Can you tell me the process? Would my whole family need to get tested and isolate until I get the results? What about extended family who have been in contact in the last 4 or 5 days with me?

Suddenly yesterday I started to get a bit of a runny nose. I blamed it on the allergies (mine are awful). Took some zertec but it didn't really do much. Didn't think much about it... Then it got worse during the night. I took some decongestant to help and it did. Got a bit better during the day, but now my temp is 37.5°C, still congested and developing a bit of a cough.

FML. I SO don't need this now 😢. I'm in SE Melbourne. I have parents and inlaws that we help, 1 kid in childcare and 2 at school. Just stressing out now!!!

My partner was recently tested, we were told to just all stay at home and me and our 4 kids didn't need to be tested unless we started showing signs of it or if his test come back positive 🙂 hope you start feeling better.

Ok thanks. Will go get the test tomorrow and we'll all stay home until we hear otherwise.

Get the test! It takes a couple of days to get the results.

When my parents needed to be tested, only close personal contacts needed to be tested. So literally my mum and dad. So yes you need to stay home until you get the results.

But wether you get tested or not, you should be staying home anyway because you have symptoms.

We are in a state with 0 cases for 29 days, we are still advised to isolate and get tested. Even if it is a cold, you going out and about is creating more problems because others will catch it and then need to get tested and stay home etc.

Seek medical advice immediately!

Trust me, I've been staying home as much as possible and as soon as I noticed symptoms yesterday, didn't have any contact with my parents or in-laws. We are so incredibly careful. My MIL will not survive if she contacts COVID.

I am in QLD and got tested last week. I had a very stuffy nose and headaches for 3 days. I had the test and was told to isolate until I got the results between 24-72 hours. My husband and children didn't get tested. My results came back less than 24 hours later as negative. My husband still went to work as normal. It may be different for you as you are in Vic so you should check with your GP. Good luck

I would ring your dr and ask seeing as your in VIC and they’re in pretty bad shape at the moment, but 37.5 is a perfectly normal temp.

Normally 37.5 is not bad, but the government advice has changed to "Do you or the person you’re with have a fever of 37.5C or chills (that is not explained by any other illness)". This is for VIC.

I never thought 37.5 was a fever but apparently it is. My son had a temp of 37.6 when I took him to get his fluvax a few months ago and he couldn’t have it because he had a fever. No other symptoms but I had to take him back a few days later to get it when the temp had dropped closer to 37.

37.5 is definitely a fever.

It helps if you know what your normal is though. My normal is around 36.4 so I’d be concerned if I got a 37.0

Normal varies for everyone....between 36.5-37.4 is normal therefore 37 is absolutely normal!

My little 10month old got covid tested yesterday, only he needs to isolate. His brother can still attend daycare and his dad can still work and everyone else in the house can come and go as they please.

We’re in QLD so might be a wee bit different for you if you’re in a hot spot XX

Thanks all, went to get the test first thing yesterday morning. We are all staying home and waiting for the results. Don't want to spread the germs just in case it's positive and even if it's not, still don't want to spread my germs around 😀
