Papilloedema??
That's what I have and I was given the same advice to lose weight.
I'd recommend seeing a local dietitian, they can taylor a specific and more importantly safe diet for you based on your requirements.
I have stacked on weight after starting medication. So I have started doing intermittent fasting - so I fast 16 or 18 hours then have a window of eating time. I cut out all the crap food - sugar, processed stuff etc. I saw that I was stress eating/snacking, and boredom eating. I'm drinking green and peppermint teas and black coffees. Oh and HEAPS of water. The first two days are hard but then its so much easier :) and within a couple of days, I started to feel so much better. Less bloated, less blahhhh. Have a bit of a look - I use an app to track my fasting and it really motivates me. I was doing 14 hours, then 16 hours and now 18. And I feel so good and weight is slowly coming off.
There is a medication that you can take, it suppresses your appetite. Its so tempting to buy ask for it at the Drs. DON'T. Its awful. You will actually pile it all back on, plus some more.
Your GP can write you a chronic health management plan that allows 10 free appointments with a dietitian.
CSIRO Total Wellbeing or Weight Watchers, perhaps? Or Lite n Easy? I'm the opposite of you, I desperately need to drop some weight but HATE having meal plans and struggle to plan ahead but have heard both of those are good. CSIRO you get a refund if you stick to the plan and lose a certain amount of weight.
The fast 800 diet.
Or sign up fir lite n easy etc. it won’t be as fast but will get there
