So my other half and I have been together 10yrs next year, engaged for almost 3yrs and we have 3 kids.
Ive always had the dream of a nice wedding, moreso for the memories aspect and the fact that weddings are usually a lot of fun. If i were to have no obstacles with money, time or distance we would get married tomorrow, somewhere nice and have a big bbq celebration with our families and friends.
My issue is that we have no money saved and his family lives overseas so if we were to have a wedding it would still be years away as we have to plan and allow people time to save for travel etc.
I see my current options as:
Elope
Registry Office
Registry Office & big 'do' in a few years
Save & wedding in a few years
As a sentimental person, I just really want to marry my best friend and i dont care if its just us and the kids there, but i also dont want to regret it later down the track and wish we had those memories.
Does anyone have any cool suggestions, advice or regrets?

You just answered you own question babe. Id elpoe or do a registry wedding. Fuck the rest . For a ceremony that takes 2 minutes, go with those options
We eloped, and loved it! Still got nice clothes, a celebrant and 2 witnesses and got married in a lovely garden. We went away for a honeymoon weekend and have absolutely no regrets. Weekend away and celebrant fees included, did it for under 2k.
Perfect time now to have the small wedding, let everyone watch via Skype so they’re “there”, it’s just you and your kids and a couple of witnesses! You won’t be made to feel bad because well, no one is allowed to travel at the moment or have big gatherings 🤷🏻♀️😂😂😂
We are having our cake and eating it too. Eloping with just us and the kids. The package includes 2 nights accommodation, cake, flowers, hair, make up, photographer, celebrant, videographer so we will still get the whole experience and the memories to share with our families and friends.
My ex husband and I eloped. We took our kids, mums and sisters and told no one. Dont regret a thing. We drove a few hours north and got married on a beach and it was perfect. Went to the local tavern afterwards and honestly it probably cost us 2000 all up including accommodation but we also didnt include rings, we just used cheapie and planned on getting custom made rings later down the track but never got around to that before we broke up hehe! I would do that again in a heartbeat, no fuss, no stress, just us and the kids loved it :)
Hubby and I eloped at our dinning room table with my parents as witnesses and our 16 month old son. It was perfect for us. We had the ceremony on our 13th anniversary of dating. We are not very outgoing people so I would do it again in a heartbeat.
It cost us $550 for the celebrant, $40 for a dress from Boohoo, $40 for a nice lace tablecloth and a table decoration
One of my cousins just had a vow renewal eith all of their families on their 25th wedding anniversary as their first wedding they eloped overseas.
That is also a possibility for down the track
I had a registry wedding with lunch at a nice restaurant thinking I wouldn’t regret it and be happy about it. If I were to do that again I wild have chosen an elopement in a beautiful area but I’m now planning a big wedding (60 guests) for our 5 year anniversary in 2 years.
