Hi Ladies,
Sorry for the TMI but has anyone had experience with external Haemorrhoids? Ive had them since I had my first son 12 years ago & I just want them gone.
I've tried some over the counter creams but I'm embarrassed to go to the doctor.
They hurt & bleed & it's affecting my sex life. Am I able to have them removed or is there a cream that makes them go away or am I stuck with them?
Thanks x

You can get surgery but it’s a last resort, most of the creams from the chemist just numb the area not actually treat them. Witch hazel is supposed to shrink them, but are you constipated? Consider taking Metamucil or a once daily stool softener?
You need to see a GP - trust me they've seen everything so your external haemorrhoids wont even faze them. Aside from that though when was the last time you has a pap smear they should be able to see them during that procedure so if you haven't had one of them for a while go get both sorted!!
My dr prescribed taking Metamucil daily along with a lot of water, zinc cream on the area in the morning, wiping with a wet cloth or wipes after a bowel movement and a cortisone cream to use sparingly at night when there’s a flare up. And no soaps to wash the area, just water. If the problem continues the we will reassess, my mum ended having the surgery. You should really go and talk to your doctor about it and don’t be embarrassed, it’s pretty common especially in women who have had children
I had severe external hemorrhoids after 3 pregnancies and lived with them for many years. It got to the point where they bled every time i had a bowel motion and wiped and i would have to push them back inside it was so painful. I had the op to get them removed, the recovery was hard but by about 2 weeks i started healing. Best thing i ever did, its worth the painful recovery!
When I was pregnant with my first I developed a grape sized outie hemmie. OMG I was mortified and so embarrassed but I went to my OBGYN and that same day she sent me to a specialist who then also that same day got me into a surgeon. It was embarrassing because I had to lay on my side on the table and the nurse had to hold my bum cheeks while the surgeon operated on my butthole lol, in hindsight its hilarious! But I was soooooooo miserable up til then. Then I had to take pain relievers for a couple of days and then I was golden. Go get assessed to see if you can get them removed. Worth it IMHO.
