Paranoid

My daughter has somewhat of what I would say a could that I think I'm now starting to develop. I'm paranoid that it is coronavirus. She hasn't had a fever just a runny nose and a cough, has been a little more emotional but other wise her self. Is it worth going to get tested for it. We have had no known interaction with someone who has it and haven't been overseas. I am just so worried as prior to this we have been around people who I stress will be really sick if the do get it.

Runny nose is rare with corona virus. There is a really good post going around with comparing cold, flu and corona virus symptoms and runny nose is only common in colds. The doctors or hospital is the last place I would want to go right now, read up on it so you know what to look for and only seek medical attention if you really have to.

Yeah that's what I thought, I think I'm being overly paranoid as she doesn't have a fever and neither do i, feel fine just the onset of a scratchy throat and she is all mucousy with clear snot. She often gets like this when the weather changes so I don't think she would have it. It's just a bit scary

It is scary, I will be paranoid myself when one of us gets a cold or flu this year, it's hard not to be. Good thing is kids are only affected mildly so even if it does look like corona virus the best thing is to stay home unless they have asthma or something else happening.

She doesn't fit the criteria for testing. Look at department of health website.

Call Health Direct first on 1800 022 222. From what I understand they’re not giving out tests unless you‘be had known contact or have come from overseas, in my opinion I don’t agree with this because it is being spread through the community now. My husband and 3 boys including a newborn have all had fevers with coughs for the last week. We’ve isolated ourselves for peace of mind more than anything and GPs aren’t concerned. It’s a worrying time 😥
