I used the lozenges, mainly because it gave me something to do that wasn't smoking, especially when others were.

Truthfully, the only method that worked was the intense desire to quit - not wanting to do it anymore being stronger than wanting to do it.

I had alternative things to do when I'd usually reach for a smoke.

I 'wrote' a mental list of reasons I didn't want to smoke, so when tempted I said to myself - do I want: to stink, the horrible taste in my mouth, way it made my skin feel crap, lose the progress I had made? I told myself one less craving that beat me meant I won. I breathed through it & reminded myself it would go away & acknowledged it'd be a crap time.

It gets easier quite quickly, once you break habits. It does, however, get tough during times you'd normally reach for one, and, surprisingly, I started craving again a year later! Nothing was going to pull me back into it. Now, I hate it passionately. Can't stand the smell & even the thought of one makes me feel ill.

Good luck - you CAN do it. Just remember it's your choice.

1 set a date to quit. The first day of the next month is usually enough time to prepare yourself.
2 write down all the positive things about quitting smoking.
3 write down all the negatives about smoking.
4 put 2 and 3 on the fridge and read it every day.
5 when u quite replace smoking with a new habit. For me it was every time I wanted a smoke I took 5 long slow deep breaths. I also had nicabate chewing gum if a craving was bad. I have also started riding my bike as a new positive habit as well
I have just quit the above way on the 1st March and I have not had a smoke since and will not. My biggest reason for quitting was I'm 40, and I'm starting to notice a few wrinkles. Smokers age quicker than non smokers and I don't won't to look old and Haggard. Basically i quit cos I'm vain lols.
