"bad" experience with amnio

Asking on behalf of a friend, has anyone on here had a "bad" experience with an amnio, a close friend has a baby with downs syndrome which was not picked up during pregnancy and blood test results were 1:10,000. She also had a terrible experience with other medical conditions not being picked up via ultrasounds etc. She is now pregnant with number 2 and understandably frightened about the care she will receive and the thought of an amnio worries her but I have not heard any bad reports about them so just wondered what others thought. Thank you

Personally I'd only do an Amnio if the results ment I would abort. There's a risk of miscarriage ECT from these tests.
I pray she has a healthy happy baby regardless of disabilities or not. Xx

I had a amnio, i was 20 weeks with my number 2.. tell her to get all the information and read it 5 times write a list of questions to ask dr. I have a good baby boy.. all i had was cramps and a little fluid loss but nothing to go back to dr about.. they told me this might happen.. i had a really good person that did my one i got to watch what they were doing, and could see bub as well.. there are always risks with everything, they tell u what they are.. its up to her but, and she can take someone with her, and they can stay in the room, while they do it.. they will also tell her what she cant do after it as well.. hope it all works out for her..
