Am I doing the right thing?

I've just discovered that my ex has allowed our 5 year old to be a passenger in the car with no car seat yet again. I have even provided him with two age-appropriate car seats for both our children. This has been an ongoing battle over the last few years and we have had many discussions about the importance of car safety. However my plea's have been ignored time and time again. I'm at the point now that I don't want to send our children to his house because I know not only does he not respect my wishes when it comes to car safety, he also willingly puts our children ar risk by not follow the road rules when it comes to carseats etc is it ok for me to stop allowing the kid's to visit his house? I plan on arranging alternative options so he can still have contact with the kid's.

Report him to police? And tell him you have? If that's the only thing happening then it can be easily fixed, he just needs to realise how serious it is. It's a lot of money when you get caught so that should be a deterrent especially if he thinks the police may now be watching him! Whether they actually do or not is another question but if he thinks they are then that should be enough. If you refuse contact and he takes you to court they won't restrict access just tell him to get his act together so it will be a waste of time on your part if you can do it another way.

Report him to the police, it is illegal for children under the age of 7 to not be in an appropriate restraint.

Police cannot do anything unless they witness this for themselves

Regardless whether you have a court order or not you can stop contact until he installs a car seat in the car. He is breaking the law by not having the child in a carseat. I have been in the exact same situation and had a court order and advice from solicitor was I definitely can stop contact until he provides a safely secured car seat as he is putting the childs life at risk

Report him to Child Safety department. He’s endangering your child’s life
