Bed wetting 9 yo

Bed wetting 9 yo

My 9 yo child has just been prescribed Minirin by a pediatrician. We've tried it all to get him dry at night. His sefesteem is being affected by this which is how we ended up at the doctors.

Anyone had success with this treatment?
Unusual side affects not on the PDS.

I found this helped my daughter but only while she was taking it and as soon as she stopped she went back to wetting the bed. My doctor did not see it as a long term medication though and in the end took her off it so we went back to wet beds. I wish I could offer advice but for us nothing has worked. Time has reduced the frequency, but nothing a doctor has prescribed has worked for us.

Years ago now but my daughter was prescribed minirin for this reason. It worked like a charm. She was even able to go on school camp and had no issues. She was very lucky to have no side affects and once we stopped treatment she had no more bed wetting episodes

I used it as a teenager and went from nightly bedwetting to maybe once every few weeks. After a year or so my parents refused to keep buying it and I went back to wetting the bed almost every night.
I didn't have any side effects. One thing I found is that often if there are no physical causes it tends to be psychological.
Stress often plays a role, so try not to show any frustration towards him when he does have an accident. If you seem angry then he will pick up on it and he will be upset, which causes him to be scared/worried about having an accident.....which only makes it more likely for him to have an accident. Keep bed times nice and calm so he can feel more relaxed. Talk to him about school as well, he may be getting bullied or struggling with school work that could be contributing to the problem.
