Hi Ladies,
Wanting to know if anyone has had any experience with their childs sleep and ADHD.
A neurologist/sleep specialist recently suggested we get our childs Adenoids and Tonsils removed. Our 10yo has always had his mouth open from a very young age and it has been suggested that the tonsils and adenoids obstruct his nasal cavity during sleep.
It has been suggested that kids not getting the right sleep and lacking enough oxygen to the brain during sleep then go on to display ADHD like symptoms.
10yo was diagnosed at 7 with adhd. Yet I've known since he was 2. His father also had ADHD.
Some days unmedicated for ADHD are fine. Others are hell. I feel either or without the medication the child is hyper. But some days he is challenging and argumentative.
I guess I'm asking if anyone has looked into this and gone down this path?
The hope would be that the child slept better and displayed less disruptive behaviours during the day and therefore potentially not needing meds.
But I'm worried for our baby to go through it for nothing.
Any friendly advice or suggestions are welcome
TIA

This question was asked recently and has since appeared on the page. Have a read of those answers and see how you go. Unless it was also your post .
Honestly what you wrote is right I have same issue and dad had ADHD as a child and my you gest had his adenoids and tonsils out huge difference completely different child now with no ADHD the eldest is having issues same as yours and us 7 I'm in the process of getting them out for him this is a good health system and they know what they are doing go for it
Take him off the meds it's probably not helping and try alternate mindfulness strategies bike riding deep breathing and hugging him through it it really does work distraction those meds are for diagnosed and end of line resorts he may just need them out
