Hi Mums,
Miss 11 is showing signs her first period is fast approaching, keen to get period underwear for her to try and make this a little easier. Did anyone buy some for your daughter? Thoughts, opinions, recommendations? It’s going to be a massive cost saver, but the idea that she will be in them all day concerns me, pads you can at least change every couple of hours. Any assistance appreciated, thanks!

I use modi bodi. You don’t have to be in them all day, you can change them.
There is a cute zip bag you can use to store your undies in until you get home, if you need to change. But I’ve never had to change at work.
I've put quite a bit of thought into this.
Whilst period underwear has many benefits, there's also a few practicality issues that i can see for school aged girls too.
School kids are active, freshness, smells and overall health in that department concern me, so i feel like they'd need to be changed at least once during the day to maintain a decent level of hygeine (particularly in summer) but how many girls would want to change their undies at school? I remember feeling slef conscious and embarrassed just changing a pad in the toilets at school.
Then there's the issue of having dirty underwear in your bag all day, again not appealing.
I'll be giving my daughters a combination of both reusable and disposable products for them to use and decide what works best for their needs. Their comfort and diginty is more important to me than costs.
Be careful with modibodi if you have a faulty item. They keep going around in circles and you won’t get your money back. It’s great when you get a properly made pair but when you don’t and bleed everywhere they try to make out your flow was too heavy for it, even though the other set worked fine with same flow rate. Just make sure it is 100% it’s a well made pair.
My daughter wears a pad and removes it then uses it as the underwear. The set we had failed and the cheapo Luna from Woolworths worked better than the failed set.
