Not sure weather to leave it or say something? So my son plays in under 10 1 side rugby league . He is not the best player but not the worst either . He sits at least 10 min off a game each week and has been sat off a whole half a game too . Other players week in week out do not come off . When he is on he is used as a de coy runner a lot and is lucky to touch the ball 5 times a game . His tackling is pretty good . There are about 6 players in the team that are better players but hog the ball and are always doing one off plays . He is told by one of these players to move out of the way so he can run it up himself . My son is feeling left out and diflated . He loves playing but has no chance to improve. The team is not winning all there games playing like this and my son is not the only one that doesn’t see the ball much . Should we speak to the coach ? He just wants to feel part of the team ! He doesn’t miss a trading session and always shows up to gala days too !

Yes you should speak to the coach BUT also keep in mind that game time may depend on more than just skill - participation in training etc could also impact the coaches decision making when in comes to game day. Make sure you encourage your son to put in a big effort in training and to also stand up for himself on the field - if the coach has told him to do something specific and another player tries to interfere he has the right to say 'no the coach has told me to do this so this is what I am going to do'.
Yes feedback to the coach
