Carpet cleaning

I can't stand looking at our carpet.... I had it steam cleaned and it's still not clean enough. I want to buy a carpet shampoo machine, does anyone have any recommendations or is it even worth the $$$ to buy one? I have 3 small children and find it embarrassing how filthy it looks.

If you can rip up the carpet that's what I'd do. A relative used to clean carpets for a living and he said they get to the point where they don't come clean looking and over cleaning can draw dirt up from under the carpet and make it look worse. I have only had carpets in the bedrooms for years now (no drinks are allowed in rooms) and don't regret it for a single minute. I have a cheap rug in the lounge that can easily be replaced if it gets icky.

I wouldn't bother with a home carpet cleaning! They don't do the job! We have one and it's the biggest waste of money.! I still pay to get it done professionally .. Only option is to rip up the carpet..

We have a bissel cleaner, around 2-300$ it's great but after 2 years we need to get professionals in. They are good for in between jobs
